My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Yosemite Sam. I really do:-)
helanker
Well, now that you say it, I see it too and he closes his eyes, because he is too aristocratic to open them properly :))) Wonderful shot :-)

Great shot I like the lighting and the orchids great.

Okay wonderful vivid colors and lighting effects in this macro. What I see in this Rorschach test is either a red tarantula, a scene from a bloody slasher movie, or a squished pomegranate.

Elvis came back as a flower? Maybe not, but I do see the pompador. Love the colors and patterns in the flower. Great capture!
Chipka
LOL @ dorothylee! I agree, it has a kind of Elvis vibe to it, if you look in a particular way. What I really like about this, though, is the sense of color and the moody light. The deep pomegranate tones are so perfectly caught here; there's something incredibly sensual and voluptuous here as well. I always like that...or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to use the word "voluptuous" but at any rate, this rocks.

Just saw Andrea's challenge, "Enigma"; now people are asking what this could be. Love the comments on these pieces...Well, I'm with Bill: This is definitely Yosemite Sam! But I also see the pompadour, it could even be some 50s guy with a major wave of hair. And I love Helle's remark about him being way too aristocratic to open his eyes. (I had to look up "Cthuhlu"!) It also reminds me of an old painting of a Chinese emperor which I can't find, but take my word for it, it's the spitting image. But all that aside, it's a fine photograph of an orchid, Tara, and it's not just the main flower but the subtle tones of leaves in the back & the light bathing some of the leaves & other petals. Very sensitive work.

When I saw your title, all I could think of was Elvis, and I know you hate him, so then I thought, "what could she possibly have done now?" I'm not tired, but dang, I sure don't see the face--maybe I should look at it tonight, right before I go to bed!! What I do see is another amazing shot, close up and full of color!!
picantilla
It is fantastic!
