Just another beautiful, ordinary spot on Lopez Island.
The sun was just going down. It was that time of day when you're not sure you'll even get a shot because the light is fading, and when the autofocus kicks in you smile, click, and hope for the best.
Dusk is my favorite time of day, that perfect balance point between what has gone before and what is yet to come. A transition from daylight reality to the mysteries of the night. At twilight, almost anything is possible ...

I love how the water is dominant in this along with the shadows, but the sky is so vivid. It's great the way the last bits of the light are reflecting on the water as the night begins to take over. Wonderfully moody and atmospheric. Great shot. PS: Chip will comment on this, but he's got to wait until I log off. :-)

the texture on the water is wonderful, it commands all the space you give it: You must've known that inside because you let it speak to you and allow it to dominate. And the foreground pier & pillars are the perfect texture (decay, revealing all the natural lines of the wood) and in perfect shadow for the water, as is the background & sky color. Love how the water fills our minds as we view this. Beautiful work Tara, once again. This trip has produced real beauty from you.
