Description
The entrance to the safe hiding place was a dark narrow passage which, from a secret trapdoor in the hearth of Eve's home fireplace led to a number of undergroung rooms. Sealed the entrance so nobody could follow them, they started going down. After a while, the dirt steps gave way to a metal gangway a huge a cavern. It was a mommoth cavern so much that from the gangway along one of the walls, they couldn't see the other walls in the oily darkness of its spaciuos belly. However J.S. noticed that the wall of the "cave" near the gangway was made of metal slabs. They were riveted and still in good condition, even if time had covered them with a thin layer of calcareous sediment. J.S. thought that the place was so ancient that it might have been built when wide oceans still graced New Mars.
Along the gangway there were some small rooms dusty but in good condition on the whole. They chose the largest, with a chair-bed and some spare furniture. Luckily the lights still worked there, and the door could be opened and closed with no effort.
"Damn, J.S. mumbled to himself, "This is a hangar or a dock for spaceships". He had seen too many of them to be wrong. He wondered who had made it and why and realized that nobody in the Earthern Alliance knew a fig about it. He leaned on the rail and all of a sudden the weirdest feeling made his hair stand on end. "There's somebody over there in the dark!" he cried.
"No, no,"Eve replied hurriedly. "it's my fault, I'm nervous and I can't keep my powers under control yet!!"
"Maybe you're right", he nodded. J.S., however, wasn't convinced at all.
When J.S. was ready, they accompagned him at the door of the "cave". The huge sliding door was partially stuck and no effort could move it completely open. "Don't worry, he told Adam. "If it's always been this way, nobody'll come to nose about".
Then Adam and Eve asked: "Will you be able to land all the same?"
"I'll manage" he answered, and went away in the pitch-black night.

Nice description of the underground journey, and discovering a hangar or deck in the process. And leaving us wondering what will happen next. And I like the mystery of Eve's---what can I call it, "astral projection"? Nice touch. Also, if I haven't said in my previous comments, I notice you have Adam and Eve, to give this story a sense of the First People, and a sense of purity amidst the corruptions and murderous activities that surround them in this planet. As for the image, more wonderful touches, clearly your own, clearly your own imagination beyond your narrative per se. Fine job on the windows, and on all the 'boiler room' gear you have in the ceiling, upper corners, etc. I like that we only see Jetsam from her wonderful feet. (More cinematic thinking.) And touches like your 100% Pure Synthetic Recycled Beans---nice work! And you've got an ultra purple bag on the far left (something from a fashionable bag-house) and a basket with I assume rationing food. I see cans with print on them, just can't make out the print. It doesn't matter, we get the sense that it's food either that they all carried, or which was there from previous 'tenants'. That's all that matters. But what in the world is Flotsam wearing, lol? Did I miss something.? Maybe I missed something in your narratives till now, but it looks like he's having a great time wearing an old space mask that was lying around! It almost looks like a Donald Duck mask, only Donald's asleep. If I missed some major point in the narrative, forgive me, but I love that thing. Maybe Flotsam is sitting under it or in front of it, but your render makes it seem like he's wearing it. Well it's delightful, whatever it may be...Overall, fine details, a lot of thought went into the image, and now we wonder what they'll do here or where they'll go 'from' here. Another fine installment and packed image. Very playful too, considering the gravity of the storyline.
