Description

This the 5th picture in my series celebrating this wonderful building. Here you can see the unique vaulting. Although St. Johns is an all stone Gothic building it has no EXTERIOR flying buttress's! They are present and are visible here connecting the outer wall to the main columns. The space thus gained allows for an additional walk-space which is used for processions and ease of exit. The nave vault is 12 stories hihg at its highest point.
