Description

A new concept for a sect within the MMO Eve Online. Working on realism on both soft materials and the figure. I find clothing especially is often far too shiny in 3D, and noticed the most realistic images I've seen don't look like rubber or latex, so focused on that. Also trying to make realistic eyes. It's much harder than one might think, at least for me.

Yes it is harder than it looks... I think you did great. Love the eyes and the freckles... The clothing looks leather. I have noticed it is the imperfections ie freckles wrinkles etc, that makes them look real. good job!!!!

Nice render - I like aspects of you have done. Hard to comment to much as I do not know/use VUE. I am conflicted over the chase of realsim - considering all the tricks that are done with cameras and lights and the affects of filters not to mention HDRI and photoshop. I think for example the leather of the glove looks good, the specular to the light has the right affect. Then I notice how thick the leather appears to be at the hand - the lack of wear and flexing at the wrist and defiently is on the hood and notice the drape and weight of the leather. All these aspects makes the work on the material appearance more difficult. I like the way her eyes look and the black makeup around them. Have fun!

I agree with you on the eyes, they can be quite difficult. You spoke of 3d clothing being "too shiny", did you do something here to darken it from the default? Also, great DoF used here by the way.

Hey Chimera, long time. Thanks for the complliment on the DoF, forgot to mention that. I've found that if you give a brightness to the cloth of 20%, and make it 80% isotropic, it actually gives a nice soft realistic look.
