Description

Today was a great day for me. For the first time in my life I could witness flagging off ceremony of this newley built Snake Boat. But please excuse me for three days posting those shots and commenting. Tomorrow early morning I have to catch the train. We ( Jesus Fraternity -Prison Ministry India) are having a State meeting at Calicut. I'm one of the 10 members representing Alleppey.(Calicut- Where Vasco de Gama the Potugese sailer first landed in India eatablishing a new sea route to India some 500 yrs ago). Owner- Chambakulam Boat club( St. Thomas Church, 6 time winners) Team - Jesus Boat Club ( Winner of the last race) No rowers: 93 to 101 Drummers and singers: 9 Rudder controlers- 5 ( including the Captain). They have a tradition of 100 yrs.But the original boat is does not exist.I shall give more details next time.Thank you. P.S> Dear friends please excuse me for not sending a mail. I'm running out of time.See You.

Amazing! Just look at the size of this and the number of people who row it. The size of the oars for the ones standing is very interesting as it the great length of this boat. It must be fantastic to see it move in the river. I also should apologize for not answering your mail but I too have been so busy - and for a while I was not well. I'll write soon though.
