My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I love a touch of whimsy, and WOW...it does look like an actual bird! Fantastic shot. The featureless sky makes the whole thing stick out even more; and, I suppose, I'm in something of a whimsical mood too. I imagine the thing as a dragon, or maybe some animal common in Nemaea. (I've been thinking of Nemaea) and as soon as I have access to a computer with word processing (for more than an hour at a time) Ilya, Aleo, Dorianna, et al. will finally get part three of their story done, and don't be surprised if wind-sock looking critters fly around in the background. But enough of that...back to this picture. It rocks. Its beautifully captured.

You got me too hehe! I'm just glad I wasn't in a hurry to post a quick comment without reading. My first thought when viewing the thumb was, OK what can I write about this lonely bird ? Well done Tara!
Katraz
You could have fooled me, Err you did, it looks like the big Red Kites that are making a comeback in the Buckinghamshire area of the UK.

At first I thought WTF!!!! jsut like you said, I thought this is the strangest bird I have ever seen, it looks drunk, or dying to pee as it has its legs crossed. Lol #;0) Somebody has a great sense of humour, something akin to mine. Gave me a big smile. Bravo!!!!!
CavalierLady
Fooled me too, lol. Never saw a windsock (or bird) like that. Great shot and humor! :)

Good one...and now we're poised to see the one from the Clinton ferry... Almost always high winds along the Atlantic beaches in Denmark...lots of similar flying contraptions there.
danob
Lol nearly had my books out to ID this one! Would be wonderful to prevent bird strikes at airports!
flavia49

WTF---if I hadn't already known, that's exactly what I would've said!! It is truly a very weird looking thing---I can't tell if I'm looking at it from the front or the back!!
