Description
Not sure about this one but I think its a moth, the only one of this type that I saw at the butterfly farm.
On reflection I think it might well be a Grey Pansy(Precis atlites) native to South Asia. So not a moth after all.

A butterfly. Note that the antennae are clubbed, and not feathered in this case, which is one distinguishing point. Another would be how the wings are held at rest (folded above the body, as opposed to flat on the surface on which the insect is resting) - although this one is holding it's wings out, I'll bet if you watched it, you'd see it fold the wings together above the body, which moths rarely if ever do...

Definitely a Butterfly, and what a super shot, Jeff! We used to have a place like this near hear but it changed hands and closed!

It's a good clear shot, I would have had the same thoughts as you Jeff thinking it could have been a Moth, but this just tells me I must purchase a good butterfly book to learn more about these. this, if I remember rightly was not a very common one around the farm! Bravo!
