Description

here is a small part of the trail I had to go on. richardphoto made it all the way to the big arch that he posted on is gallery. You see some people down there to show scale of the land. the soil is green; that is not plant life and I do not know what made the soil green? I mean there is plants growing but do not know what made the soil and rocks green. it is made up of a lot of small rocks. Of couse you see red and diff colors too lol If you a rock hound you would love this place but then it a national park and can not bring rocks home. thanksfor looking and comments and big thanks for the votes on my images

Yes, very unusual color - possibly due to copper deposits oxidizing?

Great place!!! I visited Arch National Park many years ago! Awesome!! About the green soil/rocks: usually green rocks or soil indicate the presence of copper minerals.

Arches National Park seems small on a map. Until you get out and hike a bit. Excellent capture of the scale and varied colors and textures of the rocks.

where the red color is on the earth, could that be from iron deposits, green from algae or copper deposits on or in the earth.....Excellant fotos.

It is always further than it looks in the desert. This really does show proportion nicely and the landscape is exactly as desolate as it really is.
