Description

Diatomite mine - Isle of Skye On the coast of the Isle of Skye just below the town of Staffin and looking out over the Sound of Raasay are the remains of this old Diatomite mine. Known to the locals as 'Caile' (Gaelic for chalk), Diatomite is a clay-like floury grey substance, found in certain freshwater lochs and supplying many minerals used in the production of numerous products, ranging from beverages, sugars and cosmetics to chemicals, industrial oils and paint. There was a bit of a scramble to get down to the beach but no where could I get a decent angle for a shot so had to scramble up the hill in the left foreground to get a decent image. My wife thinks I am mad..I feel she may be right.

Mad? I think not, my friend. Dedicated and creative, definitely. We are all a little eccentric in our orbits. (Full stop.)

I would say that there would be an adrenalin rush at such a view while holding a camera and yes! we cannot leave the scene until all points of view have been exhausted! Call it madness its the best excuse for eccentric photographic behaviour lol Marvelous scene and capture. nice processing!

Oh, how amazing this is. The softness and gentle roll of the shoreline... Totally stellar in all ways and I don't think you are mad. I think you are driven!

What a marvelous piece. The depth in this piece is just awesome and so is the lighting.

i think you just have a discerning and demanding eye for a good shot. i love the colors in this, and the range of light and darkness in the sky.

Great details in this photo, I like the contrasts. Perfect balanced with shadows, lights and midtones. ^_^
