Description
I don't know a lot about this plane other than what I read on the web. It is a P-47 Thunderbolt named "Hun Hunter" Info on the internet says the P-47 was the most successful allied plane of WWII, "... 7 out of 10 allied aces flew the Thunderbolt."

A nice Jug with six 50cals. Used for bomber escort in the early days until the P51 was introduced. Later used effectively as an attack plane. Great fighter up high (20k+), but so much down low against the more maneuverable ME109. But it was a tough bird and if she got behind you, those 50's would chew you up! Nice pics!

Once again, really fabulous pictures! Excellently clear! ..... Not 'too' sure about claims of the successful allied plane of WW2. Maybe, maybe not. It was great high up. Super as ground attack but medium levels - forget it! Fast, but like it looks. Acts like a brick.... Most Aces? Maybe they served SOME of their time flying them. For sure. But, RAF (etc) certainly didn't. And an awful lot of U.S. ones converted to the Mustang. But,also, having seen one (and heard!), it gives a tremendous roar from that massive engine! And it certainly moves low down! Once again, wonderful stuff. Bring em on. Rob. (Please don't accept the note as criticism or fault of a great plane or pilots! They all performed a brave and very tough job)
