Description
BB King. One of the last "original" surviving founding fathers of the modern Blues World that we know today. The "Wolf" is gone. So is Muddy. But Buddy Guy is still strong, thank God, and BB is still with hanging with us too.
This sign advertises an upcoming concert for an appearance of BB King at the Blues Club on Beale Street here in Memphis that bears his name. Something he couldn't even have dreamed of back in the early 50's when he was a struggling young (and skinny) artist newly arrived in Memphis fresh from the Mississippi delta.
The sign is in the window of his club. The reflection shows the intersection of Beale and Second, sacred musical ground, and only one block from "The Crossroads". I'm sure you may have heard that song before!
BTW, "BB" originally stood for Blues Boy.
Only in Memphis!

This has to be an exciting event. I'd love to hear him play in person. I have so many of his records. Wonderful shot.
