Description

caecus congregatio, Latin for social blindness. A common condition, where parents carry on with their lives while blatantly ignoring and denying the dangers surrounding them and their children. Symptoms include. Repeating the mantra "My kid would never do that." Not believing evidence to the contrary. Believing the child and not their teachers. Enabling the child because it's easier than helping them. As a school teacher I've seen many cases of this dreaded disease. Please double click to see a much more detailed image.

Excellent, as usual. Your attention to details is fascinating. I recognize this disease but there's the other side of the coin: overly protective parents that don't let their children exposed to any dangers at all. This is also not good, IMO, because it doesn't let the children grow their own defenses from the world and they enter adulthood unprepared for the real life out there. The key is in the balance.
