In the end, it was rather anticlimatic. I checked and rechecked the jump calculations and finally shrugged, punched them in and gave Xerxes the command to jump. My awareness continued uniterrupted past the jump transition I knew the mis-jump had worked... ...So far anyway. There was no way to know for sure until we emerged into normal space 14 subjective days from now. Or didn't. Either way we were committed now. My mind relaxed and gradually I drifted off into sleep.
