Description

Was going through some of my old photos and came across this series. Last spring I was out in the bush with my Jeep, doing a little recreational wheeling, and as I was was coming out I rounded a corner t see this scene. Now, this is not so unusual on an average weekend of wheeling, but I though this picture captured the drama fairly well and stands as a reminder that fun can have consequences. As it turned out, I knew at least half of the group of about 15 trucks or so. I stopped and of course offered what assistance I could. That is the way. We were eventually successful at getting the rig out of peril with no further damage and we set up a temporary camp, lit a big fire, and had some food and swapped stories. So how did he get like that? Well, this the end of a fairly nasty trail and I guess he snagged a brake line on something and lost his brakes. He didn't know right away because they were basically crawling, but as he came out of the trail and onto the downhill, it became apparent fast! He managed to ride it out and stopped in the position you see him in. The other truck was placed there to hold him back.

We used to go four wheeling alll the time...not always intending to get hung up or stuck someplace...but we sure had fun getting out...always up for the challenge that was for sure. :-) Had our share of broken brake lines, blown transmissions and all that...think the worse was when we got stuck in some black mud...sucked our truck down in deep...we had to walk twelve miles down off the mountain we were on to get to a phone...lol
