Description
Found this old one just sitting on the harddrive ready to be rendered. hmm sometimes it really pays of going through your old mojoworld stuff.
anyway it's dmytrys Volumetric plugin used to create atmosphere and clouds.
Lets see... had to use AAx3 to make it look nice, or else to much static in the water and light beams.
The atmosphere actually started out in seperate scene and was later combined with the water. The shaping part of the clouds are actually very simple a multifractal with sparse convolution as the basis function. Took about 24 hours to render. It was rendered in one single image. The water material has raytracing on but the quality is lower than default to speed up rendering.
Later i will put an island in there somewhere.

pretty cool world you have found yourself

mysticankhs beat me too the very same comment, love the volumertics and beams, looks like an island riseing up toward the right of the image, just a hint of one on the making, sorta like the hawaiian chain building

Excellent clouds, atmospherics and water. Sparse convolution is actually one of the best basis functions for a lot of things but can be slow. The only thing I would suggest is that the scale of the waves compared to the height of the clouds and atmosphere means it doesn't look as vast scaled as it could have been. Maybe smaller waves and lower POV but otherwise I think it is great.
lumi
Excellent clouds!!
