Hai every one, My name is Joseph Benevent Isaac. You may call me Ben. I'm a cg artist and looking for a job as a cg modeller. I like creating natural charectors rather than any sci-fi or demonic creatures. I live in India, in a small town called Alleppey in the Kerala State. Believe it or not National Geographic Society has ranked this place as one of the 50 most beautiful places on earth that one should visit once in your life time
I love photography ( don't laugh at my camera, I don't like it ), drawing, clay modelling, collecting stamps, coins, currencies, and antiques.
But after cg it is Piano. I like to play only classicals ( intermediate). I stopped listening to rock , pop or anything in that chategory . I also play Violin, Guitar, bamboo Flute ( traditional) Recorder and Harmonica. Recently I bought one used Accordion ( Horner) but I' ven't started practicing it. These are only for my personal entertainment, I' m not good for public perfomances. Because I 'ven't studied anything properly. This place is very beautiful, I love it so much, a right place for my nature. But it is not good for these subjects. I depend mostly on books and Internet.
My favourite modern musicians -Michael Nyman , John Williams, Yann Tiersen, Ludovico Einaudi, Gheorghe Zamfeer, Yanni, John Hawksley, Yiruma, George Winston,Jim Brickman, Richard Clayderman etc.
If you know any other mucians whom may fit in to this list, please let me know. Thank You.

My gosh! This is amazing! I never knew! How could I never know about such a thing? It is so powerful and traditional and I was not aware of it until now. Your photos and narrative tell so much and make me wish I could have seen this. Are women there to watch? I see so many men but what about the women? Just incredible work you've done here.

Oh! Dear PJ, I must disappoint you. According to tradition women are not allowed to touch a Snake boat. Here faith and culture are in tangled. Though we are strong in our faith ( Catholic) culture and traditions have a strong root with the Hinduism. You can see it on the picture 7, top most, flowers and rice on a banana leaf. Here these Boats are known by the Village it is owned. In this case 'Chambakulam'.The race is between the villages.( In this particular area each village is divided as 'Kara'. Kara= land, because they are seperated by water. So this Boat belongs to Chambakulam Kara.). Acccording to Hindu faith this boat is their deity and they worship it. That's why women are not allowed to touch it.I shall write more in the next post. But I don't thing they can't watch it. May be they were having work inthe kitchen.Even if there is one or two who is intrested they wont dare to stand in a crowd dominated by men.

Fantastic collage and informative.

Amazingly interesting!! And especially so as women are still in this subordinate position, so thank you so much for these super photos and fascinating info! It is great that the two cultures are so intertwined. In some countries the Church has tried so hard to suppress all that is not to their narrow likings, so sad.
