Description

Hi there. Today I will start a little series about a bridge in my neighbourhood. It is called "Elstertalbrücke" - a railway-bridge across a valley here. The bridge is based here in 1846 and completed in 1851 from the Bavarian-Saxony-Railway. There is another bridge in that line - the "Göltzschtalbrücke" (use this as a search word on Wikipedia). On the image you see a little birch-tree on the middle level of the bridge where you could walk across the valley. On the top-level the train is crossing. I will try sometimes to take a shot from the top when I cross with the train like I do 3-4 days every week. The next days you will see a shot of the bridge from a nearer place and 2 panoramas taken while I walk across.

Cool POV, but the shot is a bit over-exposed; notice how the sky is blown out to white with no detail and the trees in the distance are clipped. Was this shot with camera metering in auto or did you set this manually? If its the camera metering, its to be expected, you cannot rely on reflected light to properly meter a scene like this.

They have such a will to live! My nearest railway bridge has buddleja and birch getting quite mature in the mortar. It looks a very beautiful place.
