Description

Pre-digital camera, probably Agfa film. The Chruch of St John the Baptist at Edlingham in Northumberland has remains dating back to 1050, and the early Norman period, though there was probably an earlier church on the site. The tower is 14th century and its sturdy construction an indication of a secondary purpose as a place of refuge for the villagers during the many forays from Scotland. Cliff.
