Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."ÂÂ
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

Chip, it's a magical shot; the light on the water is fantastic, as is the shape of the castle itself. Beautiful!

Great image. I can almost here the river and the trams as you've described. The reflections in the river and the lights on the far bank are inviting and fascinating.

A very lovely shot. You speak of Prague with such longing. I hope you will be reunited with your soul city soon. You are at home in her arms and she holds you tightly, so you can create with confidence and joy. CC

Light is a presence and also an echo, updating our mind for what things and people cannot show or express.

Excellent and clear night photography and all the colours bouncing around the image are wonderful. I love your description of the shimmering Vltava river. Alas, the only great city river I can visit is the Don River in Toronto. A body of water with such a reputation for pollution that, in times past, young people used to watch it catch fire on Saturday nights. And it used to be overlooked by the city jail, "The Inn On The Don". A far cry from the noble Vltava. And I'm always so impressed by the vision of some of the Czech rulers of old. These palaces and castles and fortresses have a grandness of design you do not see in many other parts of the world.

I love this! I've seen a lot of your pictures of Prague (and heard their accompanying stories )since you returned in February, and thought I can't say that I almost feel I've been there, i can admit that it sounds fascinating, I envy you the experience, and can't wait to check the place out. Great night-time shot and wonderfully evocative! So, when are we leaving?

to see Prague was... has been my dream since early school days way back to the early 60s when I started corresponding with a peer who would send me postcards. seems like if and when I ever get there, it won't look strange. your wonderful images remind me of those postcards and the time

beautiful & evocative, you capture the mystery of night-in-a-city impeccably, both with the lights and with the looming black space around them (a generous night-sky, chip!), and with the looming shadows near the water; you know how to use a camera, my friend, and how to let it pick up the mysteries and caverns of night in & beneath a city. (Those shadows over the water remind me of some of your science fiction...) I've never been to prague, but your writings have taken me many places I've never been; and your photos have taken me there too. A wonderful shot bathed in the love you have for the place, and in the mystery & illumination you bring to everything you create. Please know that I can't comment on everything I've missed because it would take me so long, but also know I've seen everything, I haven't missed an upload, and I'll try to comment on representative pieces as I return. This was a great place to start...beautiful.
