Description

Female Downy Woodpecker. This small woodpecker hasn't visited the bird feeder but makes trips to the tree immediately next to my back deck and feeder. This is the second type of woodpecker I've been able to capture but her visits are extremely short...no time yet for follow-on shots. The other type of woodpecker being the Red-bellied Woodpecker seen in my present avatar 5/14/2009. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Feedback is very much appreciated and makes for better photos. Bill:)

another terrific capture!!!!!!!!i'm envious of your neighbors, maybe i already told you so. The air should be pretty non-polluted in your area, here it's a miracle people can breath!

Wonderful capture. He looks so soft and small on that big tree. Excellent textures in the tree, too.
