Yea, spring has finally come to Wisconsin! I give you our state flower. The Wood Violet - (viola papillonacea) The wood violet was nominated as Wisconsin's state flower in 1908. On Arbor Day 1909, it was officially named. It is also the state flower for Illinois, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. This purple flower is quite common and is frequently seen along roads and highways. The leaves of the plant are edible and are used in salads, candies, and jellies. It's my understanding that the wood violet was offiicially named the state flower the year Elfin12u was born. If this is true that makes him 100 years old. Honey, you always try to pull one over on me. I seriously don't believe you are 100. I don't know anybody that old with a 6 pack.....I just don't know anybody that old. Nice try.

But I feel like it sometimes!! The leaves are edible??.....who would've tried that in order to find out? Oh look, there's a pretty leaf, lets eat it to see if it's any good! Yeah!, anything has got to be better than that nettle stuff we had last week! Nice pic sweetie, looks like you climbed right in there!
