It's amazing what a few lines can convey, in terms of expressiveness! It is a gorgeous composition indeed.

I love the figure's off-center placement with the back to us. Fantastic shading, and the texture is captured perfectly. So much of your work contains a kind of poetic grace, and this is a perfect example of that...I think it has something to do with the minimalism coupled with the profoundly emotional implications of what you show. Whatever it is, it works perfectly!

deeply powerful, one of your most introspective pieces...and, as ArtPearl says, it conveys such tenderness. Full-size, your shading is exquisite. You create such power with graphite. It intensifies around the arms & legs & in the outline of the head: That tells us there is much power & reflection going on inside this soul. (Unrest.) Even the hair going down her back could be a scarf or just shadows: You aren't 'too' specific: You draw universal humans, what we call "Everyman" humans...in other words, they could be anyone, from anywhere, from anytime. They represent all of us. And the emotion—unrest—is raw and very deep. Great work, Ana. Works like these show us how deep an artist you are.

How did I miss this one? I do remember it, but I don't know why I didn't comment on it. Yes, Ana. It's intent fit then, and now. Now, I remember, I identified so closely with this that I started crying and couldn't comment. I don't need to say more. You certainly connected with me. You got it perfect. Thank you so much, dear Ana. It is definitely a fav, and I am going to save it to my files.

There is something so powerful about the emotions expressed by someone in the fetal position. Wrapped tightly into oneself, shutting the world out and oneself in. It is such a private, self protective, and inward position. All sight and feeling is being wrapped closely into oneself. We can do this every day as we walk among others, converse, do whatever the day demands, still mentally wrapped in a fetal position. That's what I thought of as I looked at your wonderful image. I thought of the tension, of the turmoil that hides inside this extreme position. I thought of the way that tension and turmoil can be pushed deeper and deeper into ourselves. Hiding our reactions from others and sometimes also from ourselves. You express emotion so powerfully in your images. You reach deeply into the soul and show emotions so elemental and universal. The fluidity of your lines, and the emotion of your work is truly wonderful. Beautiful and powerful image.
