Description

I've never seen a quail in town before. So I was quite surprised to hear and see this one in my yard early yesterday morning. It's mate was calling to it from some distance away, and when it saw me, it was gone in a flash. Not the quality or pov I would have liked, but another new bird for my gallery, nonetheless. Thank you very kindly for your recent views and comments.

An almost 3D effect her Maria, excellent dof, I used to see quite a lot of these in my youth, my house backed onto moorland. Only one farm and then twenty odd miles before the next dwelling. Maybe not up to your usual standard but still an excellent shot, you are to hard on yourself. #;0) Bravo!!!!!

Wow what a great find and capture a very hard subject to catch let alone see. All I've been able to catch is their Bobwhite call warnning the covey that I'm approcing while they're running just a few feet in front of me out of sight, and that they should at the call just tantalize me with wing flutter and butts, as they fly off into the sunset, LOL. So to make a longer story short under the conditions and knowing the birds this is a great shot, well done!!!!

I'm really liking your backyard you have many beautiful birds passing through, perhaps a photograph of your yard is in order hehe! maybe I'll steal an idea or two. It may not be the quality or pov you would have liked but the strength of the 3D effect going into the depth of field is playing with my brain! An Excellent capture indeed!

Looks good to me. These casual visitors are so infrequent you have to simply get them where you can, right? A most amazing visitor showed up yesterday here...an Indigo Bunting. But it was in a very tough place for a photograph...get enough to identify it but nothing worth uploading.

Great Scott, another bird that I'll never see around these parts! I think the clarity, contrast and composition are beyond reproach, Maria! Nothing short of stellar!

Oh how wonderful!! I haven't seen one of them in years! We used to have them in abundance here, but I'm afraid that the arrival of coyotes (and more humans) have impacted their numbers. Great capture! :o)

My husband and I were talking this week that we never see or hear a Bobwhite anymore. I remember hearing them as a kid but that was about 55 years ago. This is a great picture.
