Description

This dove will sit down on this main electric power cable to my house and sleep. I have pictures...just not quite as sharp as I'd like. This is a mourning dove and I'm 95% sure it is a female. Males have a little pink colored patch on the right and left sides of their necks. I appreciate all the wonderful comments and favorites associated with this ever expanding bird series. I have a few smaller birds to post: chickadees, sparrows and a surprise to me...an Indigo Bunting. The Indigo Bunting is my new nemesis...brilliant blue but doesn't stay long and I've had trouble getting him in focus so far. Bill:) P.S. I haven't seen any of my numerous grosbeaks in three days. They appear to have stopped for a photo op and moved on.

Probably right about the grosbeaks. You're on the central migratory flyway. Mourning doves stay in Tulsa year round. Although I don't chase them when they're feeding or hunting on the ground, I love the soft whistle their wings make as they take flight.

Excellent detail on the wire and dove and I have faith that you'll soon capture your nemesis!

Although the clarity isn't as you would like it, the photo is still beautiful and the bird and wire are still in very sharp focus. Super work!

There's a song about a bird on a wire, but this looks a lot more heavy duty than I ever pictured. Excellent capture.

Great focus in this stellar shot of the mourning dove, not realizing it is just a few millimeters away from sudden electrocution, or at the very least a nasty hotfoot, Bill.

A really wonderful shot. They can be very congenial if you don't move too quickly. Lovely!

She looks very much at home on this perch and I like how you have her with the green background. I'm looking forward to seeing the Bunting, he sounds brilliant.

Excellent. Doves seem to be more willing to pose than most birds.
