Description

One more two photo blend showing the same Blue Jay going from perched to flight in two sequential frames. This is a bit dark in the background but I, for one, am fascinated with how quickly a bird can transition into flight. But then it is a matter of their survival. Many thanks for all of you who have commented on this bird series and selected quite a few favorites from among these backyard entertainers. More to come... Bill:) A ZOOM is good.

Superb clarity and lighting effects in this masterful blend of Bluejay pics, Bill! I do believe that's how Superman takes to the sky also. Again, a reminder of a McDonnell Douglas Harrier jet.

yeah maybe the background's a bit dark, but in such on-the-spot photography you don't have a lot of choice. The two bird shots are beautiful, clarity on the still shot (beautiful capture of the changing patterns & hues of its feathers); and the flight shot is sumptuous. I don't know another word. It has the quality of 18th & 19th C. glass or basalt sculpture, precious, delicate and beautiful, even though it's in motion and has the requisite slight lack of focus that accompanies split second motion-shots. The composition brings out the precariousness of flight, how the bird looks like he's struggling to stay airborne (even though he's not struggling); we get to see the flash-fastness of flight. And the light-source behind them gives a nice counterpart to the dark background. Love the shot, and it's representative of all your motion montages.
