She sat in the back of her Uncles car. Her eyes averted, downcast, staring at a stain on the floorboard. The older man leans in on the passenger window and asks "How much?" "I only want to take some pictures, nothing else" The Uncle glances at her through the rearview mirror and say's "She is my youngest" "Only six dollars for a visit" "Just don't leave a mark, it's bad for business". Looking back at her, the older man asks, "How old are you honey?" "Thirteen" is her quiet reply. With a broad smile crawling across his face, he hands over the money and leads her to his place as the motel sign flickers NO VACANCY.
Unlocking the door he leads her into the dark and dingy room. The curtains pulled tightly closed. No light from outside makes it in. No sound from inside will make it out. He's ready to turn that six dollars into six thousand. All you do is click on your web browser. He sets up the camera equipment ready for some stills and some taping. It's not illegal to use rapin' as a cash crop, as long as it says she's 18 on your laptop.
Browsing through the website, "ADULT CONTENT" blinks in bold letters like a NO VACANCY sign, now it "his" time to go get her. Pictures and clips of her with an awkward smile. She looks so innocent, not old. Just one click of the mouse and now she's resold. It's a case of 'he's here' and 'she is there', that why he doesn't really care that she's someone daughter. He bought her. She's trapped in his media player. He adds to the profit of a 500 million dollar market where children are regarded as product, and traded like stock tips, and raped for the sake of our pockets.
His laptop sits like a window into her room, but HE can exit.

this is so sad, your writing is so powerful. and, of course, the painting is magnificent.. the white of the fabric really communicates innocence, but her face - eyes - are too old for her age. that's so sad.
