Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Unbelievable photos and story. Only a few places left that I need to visit, before I'm just to old to travel, Hawaii is one of them. I hope that you have hundreds of Hawaii postings to go. Checked out the link. Wow! Dana

This is gorgeous...I love old places, and this certainly has that aged, dignified vibe...plus being a sacred space for an indigenous population is an extra bonus. Now, aside from that, this is great work...fascinating and gorgeous. **By the way, I love the Polynesian language, it's so lyrical...so...appropriate to my ear.

yes and I remember these too. Astonishing structures, human but made of the earth, very primal yet very protective. Your Hawaii shots captured all those things & the magic & the power. I mean power as in "this place has power." The kind that shamans speak of when they stop in their paths and say, "wait; don't move; there's power here". These things have power, they're mysterious & beautiful and very strangely visceral; what temples probably were before established religion got its hands on them. Very mystical, so glad you shared this with us.
