Description

Waited a couple days since I shot this the same morning MrsLubner shot hers. May I say mine pales in comparison. Go to MrsLubner gallery for a Fantastic mantis photo. Found him on the front door step. For a better perspective. I placed a dime on the ground and gently nudged him on. He was half the length of a dime. Upon moving him from the front door step and onto a canna lily, then shot a couple more. Choose this shot as being more natural. Thanks for your views, special thanx for the past comments

Since I took my shot, I haven't been able to get a decent focus lock. Seems when they get just a tiny bit larger, they tend to be absorbed into the foliage and the focus has a hard time finding it. This is definately better than what I have gotten in the last few days. Isn't it wonderful watching them grow? One of my favorite garden bugs is the mantis. :-) This really is a great shot and I ought to know... I take hundreds of them each year and only a very few come out good enough to know what it is I'm looking at. :-) Stellar work!
