Description
True colors.
Bird book lists "Bronzed Grackle" under the heading of Common Grackle and adds, "...occurs in most of New England and west of the Appalachians [mountains]; it has a bronze back, blue head, and purple tail.
The best time of the day here to get the true colors of a bird is mid-day. morning and late afternoon introduce many shadows. This was mid-day when the sun was directly overhead.
Please keep your comments coming. You all are making this series particularly interesting for me as I am still very much a novice in the details of the bird world.

You're doing so good with the birding series, Bill - DONT EVER STOP. birds are my favorite subject when taking pictures. Yours turn out so clear and sharp. They are so good! (do you use a tripod?) we have these grackles here too; they are very aggressive.. and tend to hog the feeders! lol

Fabulous POV, clarity, lighting and textures in this stunning shot of the grackle, with its don't-mess-with-me expression. One mean looking mother.
