Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I use to know a man that went to Mexico with me and my Mexican friend put him in touch with a welder.he was wanting on of these stairs for his house.he hauled them from Monterrey all the way to Dallas on a Pinto no less tied to the roof very interesting capture

Spiral stairs are usually in fascinating places. Where I went to college I lived in a building that was built like an old fortress...four staircases...all spiral. The CC link didn't work for me(?).

Cool POV and capture; I had a set of these in a place I lived in once. They were more challenging to use than I anticipated, though. Hard when you needed to carry a anything large up or down, but oddly easy to use when drunk--you just needed to lean to the center support and follow it up!

LOL at Denise! A very interesting image....nowadays my first thought about access is wheelchairs, having afriend who is stuck in hers!

Just got back from a night shooting with Dave aka punaguy. And one of his shoots was on a spiral stairs. You must be sending back messages here, lol. Nice capture. Aloha

I have to say, Marilyn, you're really onto something here. I love the geometry of this. It's like looking at a seashell of some undiscovered sort, or like the segmented armor of an armadillo-sort of critter. The rusty reds are perfectly captured, and the shadow of the railing adds a little bit of an extra pop. The textures are good too...it's standard, non-slip traction metal, but it looks more organic and alive. This is incredibly well-seen and captured and presented. I think Denise and I have the same experience in terms of having to walk up stairs like this when drunk...the "follow-the-central-support" strategy works every time.

I LOVE this! The perfect You-are-There shot and so real that it almost gives me vertigo. The lighting and texture are excellent and I can practically smell the sun-hot oxidized metal. As with Chip and Denise I've had my share of walking up spirals while intoxicated (one of my closest friends has a multi-floored spiral that is essentially a roller coaster) and as much fun as they are going up, they're twice as fun going down! Anyway, this is a great shot and will probably inspire several nightmares. A definite fave!

I really like the shapes in this one. The shadows from the railing. The rusty step. The contrast with the green below. Dana

Ooooh, I love spiral staircases! With this POV, you've captured the fan, lighting, shadow and textural effects gloriously, Maz!
