Description
The cloister stood at the centre, where it was sheltered from noise and disruption. The cloister at Rievaulx was c. 42sqm (140 ft) and dates from (1132-1145). It was made up of a large central area surrounded by an open arcade; five of the original twelfth-century cloister arcades survive and have been re-erected in the NW corner of the cloister.
I have researched the history of Rievaulx Abbey and will give you more information with every upload. I do have lots of photos of Rievaulx Abbey. So at the end of this series you too will become experts.

Beautiful shot. Almost 900 years old. Nothing quite that old here:) ...unless we photograph Indian cliff dwellers' ruins. Of course a lot of our ancestors were probably working for the monks along with your ancestors 900 years ago.
