Description

Mounted on wooden horses, in The Tower of London was a row of figures representing the kings of England. They appeared on life-sized wooden horses wearing what was said to be their personal armour. Each was labelled with the name of a King of England, William the Conqueror wearing a splendid tilting armour of about 1590, and George II an armour of the time of Henry VIII The line is first recorded in an inventory dated October 1660 and it is possible that the display was assembled to mark the visit to the Tower of London in August that year by Charles II after his many years in exile. Sadly nowadays only the line of horses remain but they are still very impressive and the Kings armour is on wall mounted display.

this is rather magical! I would have loved to have seen it with the armour perched each atop its own steed. That would have been out of this world! As it is, this is one stellar shot with great lighting and a stunning pov.

Unusual and strangely, surreal! It's been years since I've actually been to The Tower. Last time was briefly outside with a Rendo chum last year. Not inside. Too touristy now! But, has to be said, some really interesting shots to be had. Good one. Great lighting too. Rob.
