Description

Well, we know where Iris has been for a year, reinventing herself for this year's display of blooms. This is from my yard. Just noticed today that many are beginning to bloom as there are literally hundreds of them. I made the mistake of digging them up and separating them a few years ago and all of a sudden they 'took off' like rabbits...LOL Some Iris facts: Bombay Sapphire Gin contains flavoring from particular bearded Iris species. And rhizomes of the German Iris and Sweet Iris are traded as orris root and used in perfumes, though more common in ancient times than today. These are the bearded Iris known as the 'Mary Todd.' As far as scale, these blooms are as large as one's open hand. Thanks for viewing and leaving a comment or two. I have one primary iris bed in my yard jammed with so many I can't count them. Every 2 years I cut them apart and separate them...thin them out. In 2 years it is time to do it again. But I have so many I cut out that I now have iris in every flower bed, front and back. I just love their varied colors and stles. Fabulous shot!
