I've been working on computers since the age of 11 and just recently got in to 3D Art. I've been doing it for 11 months now.
I started out with Poser & bryce but after messing with those for a while I wanted to start making my own 3D Creations, so I started messing with Rhino, and I stuck with that for a couple of months. but I also wanted to get into animation so I started messing around with Cinema 4D :)
well their you go, now its time to get back to work... later world

You aren't alone. I can draw I'm too inexperienced to make it in 3D. My problem is also that when I design something in 3D I have no set plan. I just make something and see what appears six hours later :) Not sure if that's good or not yet grin

How about making a model of that image above. Maybe call it "Picasso" 3D Modeling Technique, Not going for realism but for style? :> Be the leader in a new generation/style of 3D modelers?!! Just A Thought.....

Hey, I usually do a sketch of what I want to model. I can draw but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. It can definately be helpful if you want to do something like character modeling but for anything else, naaaa. One of my favorite artists that posts here once told me when I was first starting that all complex models are basically just a collection of primitives. When I approached it that way, everything fell into place for me. Good luck and don't ever give up. :)

I feel your pain, as I can't draw either. But any small skill I may have in modeling came from practice and observation of others' work. Try a little exercise-find something intersting on the Web with a good picture/several different views and try to model it. If you keep doing that, you're going to get better, trust me.

try modelling simple objects first, like a mug, glass, camera, then maybe try a mobile phone slowly building up to complex models. dont worry about texturing objects for now, and don't forget to post them in the forums (not matter how bad you think it is) you will get friendly advice and learn a lot more than a manual can ever show you. so what you waiting for get stuck in. :o)
