Description

John Arthur Carradine - David Carradine Dec 8, 1936 - June 4, 2009 ~~~~ For as long as I can remember, when I was younger, I remember two TV shows that my Dad and I watched religiously -- one was M*A*S*H the other was Kung Fu and I fell in love with the soft-spoken but determined pupil of The Ancient in Kwai Chang Caine, or, "Grasshopper". And I remember begin glued to the screen again, years later, when Caine returned in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. Seeing movies that starred Carradine was always a thrill, no matter the role he played...beyond the role of Caine in movies like The Long Riders, Circle of Iron, Deathsport, Gray Lady Down, Bird on a Wire, The Long Good-bye, and so many others. And who could forget his fantastic portrayal of the utterly amoral Bill in the Kill Bill saga? Innumerable and memorable movie and television roles have left an indelibly mark where Mister Carradine touched them, and they will be marred forever by his passing. Hearing about is death has, I'm sure, wrenched so many more lives than my own. I looked up to Mister Carradine as a moralist whose peaceable belief in the Shaolin way were truly an inspiration for peace and unity in his own universe. His loss is not only one to Hollywood, but to the world that was inspired by him. My solemn prayer to his family and loved ones for peace and to all those of us who were fans...may his soul rest in peace. ~~~~ "If you cannot be a poet, be the poem." "There's an alternative. There's always a third way, and it's not a combination of the other two ways. It's a different way." ~~~~ Photo (c) 2009 Twilight Productions Quotes by David Carradine from IMDB.com

I've always loved this photo my dear, and paired with your masterfully crafted words it makes a fitting tribute to this wonderful actor at the end of his days. I thought it was such a tragedy when I saw the news. My best wishes to his family and fans. May his soul rest in peace.

There is no question as to his screen presence, even in the low budget roles he often took on, since it was easy money and left him time to pursue his many other interests. Very nice photo dedication!

Beautiful image and tribute Stacey! It seems that the stars of today fall far short of such legends, and as we loose each one, there is no one to follow in their footsteps... certainly no one who can fill them!

I've been thinking of making an upload too.... I can't help but feel he was murdered.... Did you know the series "Kung Fu" was Bruce Lee's idea? Did you know the studio would not give Bruce Lee the roll because he was "too Chineese"??? I wonder what would of happened to these two actors if Bruce would of been given the Kung Fu roll.... I wonder Where David would of gone? I picture him in Westerns, but not as a Kung Fu Master.... He was a dancer when he got the roll for Kung Fu and got into the martial arts after.... I truely believe the same spirits that wanted Bruce gone were once again woken once Carradine got to Bangkok... Think about it, we here it could of been a suicide (I keep hearing that on the news)... it wasn't suicide. It looks like someone wanted to discrace him - I think the way they found his body they did a good job.... You watched Kung Fu... they were constantly calling him "China man"... What do you think true China Men thought about that??? - there is your motive. ....Cover up? you bet ya... Bangkok wants there tourists... if word got round that an American was killed because of his background, Bangkok would not have as many visitors, plus, racism has really died and this type of crap can bring it back to life.... I picture some old men that didn't like the Kung Fu series... it's been off the air for years, so Carradine was probably safe... I see some old twisted men getting angry that a White man portraying a China man has come to there country to make a movie and they snapped... I did have mixed emotions about Carradine, but I to truely liked him and he will be missed and his Death will always be up in the top worst ways for an actor to go out. Great picture, you captured the Kung Fu colors.

A wonderful tribute. I also was a fan of 'Kung Fu' but my favorite character was Master Po, the blind monk played by Keye Luke. In almost every episode he imparted some wisdom to the young Caine. There was an album of sayings that was produced. Every episode ended with Caine's voice, 'I seek not to know all the answers, but to understand the questions.' A worthy quest.
