Description

Hi all, This image is inspired by watching probably way to much to the National Geographic Channel on TV :-) The cave model (inclusive the rocks) is created in Hexagon. It is a VERY BIG cave model but you only see a tiny bit of it here. The roots are just trees placed upside down and the two Poser figs are 2x James with different poses and a different t-shirt color. Render time was 8h39"03' with Advanced effects quality set to 50%, Light Quality boost +2, Sky/Fog/Haze Quality Boost +2 and was rendered in Spectral Model with Global Radiosity....and still there is grain visible in the rays... Some level adjustment in Photoshop. Hope you like it :-) Thanks for looking and feel free to c&c Wim :-)

this is amazing, splendid....although I suggest move the quality boost slider all the way to to get rid of grainess (although I have done that myself and I still get some grainess)....

Wonderfull cave. The godrays are excellent, but a little grainy isn't it ?

This is brilliant. By bizarre coincidence I am currently trying to do an image with exactly the same subject/lighting in carrara & or Vue but I'm really struggling with getting the volumetric lighting right. You nailed this. Hope I get even 50% near what you've achieved.

looks pretty good even with a bit of noise in the volumetrics

Looks really good. Wouldn't have used a spectral atmo here, since the sky isn't visible, so you could've boosted the light quality more without more rendering time.

i like it Wim.. i think if you had put black top and bottom onto it it would have more impact. Maybe try it and put it up for a Picture of the day at E-on ..you might get it.. Je bent goed bezig ;} Chris

Nice work ! I do agree with bruno however on the sky settings, there isd alot of grain in the volumetrics. Could have swapped out render times with the sky and boosted the beams up a notch or 3. A great piece though.
