Description

Here is a picture I took while hanging out with the pelicans. Hey, if Dave can have his giraffes and trees I can surely have my frogs and birds. Besides we were just chillin' out and enjoying the beautiful weather that day. Ah yes, it was a nice day for the beach. I kind of wish I was there right now. It's 52 degrees outside here today and raining! Hey wait a minute....isn't this June???? It's supposed to at least in the 70's here. Ok, who is hoarding all the warm weather? You look at my pelican friends while I go find my sweatshirt. Thank you for stopping by and taking a look, and thank you for all the wonderful comments on my previous posts. Friends always, Cheri

I have never seen a pelican in person. Next time, I'll go with you! :D This is great. You make me feel like I'm sitting on the deck, perhaps with a beverage ... Lovely!

Hard to believe it was 85 degrees this day, I don't think we've gone over that since we've been back home! There's a bait shop at the beginning of this pier, and apparently in Florida, shrimp is commonly used. I think those fishing off this pier fed more to the pelicans than they did the fish. Seeing this shot makes me want to go back,.....now!

Lovely capture Cheri - looks like you managed to get pretty up close to these pelicans! I bet they can be vicious when they want to be!

Nice capture of pelicans, man's material presence and a nice lazy seascape, Cheri. My apologies, on behalf of my fellow citizens, for hogging the good weather, but, in a record breaking week, we had four days in a row over here in Scotland where we had temperatures in the 20sC, indeed up to nearly 80F. Then it was so cold at night that the Cairngorm National Park, in the central Scottish Highlands, had a fair amount of snow overnight, although the, mainly city based, snowboarders contented themselves with the indoor facilities.... ;o) Some 25-30 years ago, in early June, the day before our local gala / festival - Lanark's Lanimer Day, celebrated in part since the royal burgh was founded in 1140, we had snow just a few miles downriver in Crossford - an area reknowned for its sheltered strawberry fields and orchards! I was on duty that day, and was stranded with my old colleague, God rest him, in our old short wheel base police Land Rover, for an hour or two, till the local Roads Department deigned to send out a snowplough and a salt / grit spreader from the Carluke depot. So, enough chat about the 'global warming', my friend. In Glasgow ( the 'Green City', full of public parks, the lungs of a city, whose reservoir is never short of water ) we poor Weedgies / Glasgwegians, just take each day as it comes, and are very thankful, if totally unprepared, for any good weather that leaks our way. Warm regards, John.

The clarity, contrast, textures and semi-silhouetting make this one prize composition, Cheri!

Fantastic picture. It looks warm, crisp, and inviting. Yeah, what is it with the weather...Chicago is cold, wet, and rainy. Not good. This picture is great, however.
