Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Amazing shot! This looks like something from another world. It's definitely exotic and you captured it perfectly. I can almost smell flowers and water and the lush greenery.

Are you allowed to touch?? Places like this I love to be able to run my hands across the surface, to leave a little bit of myself behind. It doesn't look like anybody has touched these since the were first carved and that looks like it was last week. It does look like a place of peace and tranquility, somewhere to walk and relax thinking of nothing, just taking in the ambience, cleansing the inner self. Superb work Marylin, wish I could have been there. Bravo!!!!!

Is this where all the "Tiki" gods, from the late 50s, retired? In any case, this is an interesting place. Great capture. Dana

another terrific shot; and part of these shots isn't just the composition—here surrounded by verticals and feeling like the statues grew there, fine choices on your part—it's the very subject itself, the fact that you seek these things out. I loved this the minute you uploaded it, and felt the energy immediately, as power, sacredness and even play. Your low pov emphasizes the feeling that they loom (even if they were short, they loom), and the pickets of the fence add to the vertical rise of the piece. Terrific. If I found things like this on my walks, I'd feel I was surrounded by a lot of power...
