Description

...trying to catch the glowing colours of late spring/early summer in my country, with focus here of course with the flowering rapeseed. Not the easiest scene I've worked on, alone the texture for the rapeseed flowers was difficult to get right, now it looks like I want it to, at least:) The road/terrain is based on a large-scale (6000x4000) imagemap hand-drawn in Photoshop. Vue 7.4 Complete render, levels/colour adjustments in Photoshop. Houses in the background are from "rodluc2000" and "martin62" - thanks! Except from a few standard Vue trees, the rest of the trees and plants are by me. Thanks for taking a look, comments etc. welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

Curious where you live. I live in Lithuania and this is exactly what I see everyday this time of year. A nice piece for sure.

Thanks for your comments so far. About the bump settings for the road, they are very subtle - but agreed, still a bit rough, incredibly enough: It's a procedural fractal bump, scaled to 0,01 and strength 0,001. Maybe too much anyway, but it only shows in the full-scale render (user settings, crisp AA). Thanks again!

Normally, even if "Both critical and non-critical comments are welcomed", you never critisize but in the case of Lars it is different because he plays in "a higher division". I think this image is not up to his usual standards, the road feels articifial and not enough detail in the vegetation. The colour is perhaps a bit oversaturated IMO. Aside from that it is perfect! ;)

I think what looks unnatural about the road is that there isn't any roadside on the outside edges. This is a marvelous work anyway! I wish I could do even half this good.

Nice one, I especially like the green grass stripe between the flower fields...road is quite good, just that slope looks a little bit too much for me...:)

This could be the drive home to my house! We have lots of fields full of rape too - which my husband hates as it sets off his hayfever!! Excellent work on the plants - and the road tto

You perfectly captured that Technicolor yellow of rapeseed. Great work on the road, yes, I think someone could do it better, probably you at some point, because you keep pushing. Keep it up, it's wonderful!

I think this is amazing as usual, but if you were traveling at a higher rate of speed you would go air born at that drop in the road. Maybe a bit to steep for actual traffic. Shari123...Not every road I've been on has a dirt or gravel shoulder and I agree on the bump setting for the road. A bit to strong. I hope I'm not being to critical but I don't bother even commenting on a lot of what I see here these days but your work is up there!
