Description

To say I was annoyed to find the wolf going through my private log would be an understatement. One of the reasons I became a scout was that I value my solitude and privacy. "Is that really necessary?" The wolf didn't respond immediately. Finally he said, "You should be dead." That made me blink. A tad worriedly, I admit. "Why? You the one who was shot." "Not then. You should have died on the Exeter." That sounded rather ominous. I tensed even though I knew I was no match for a Wolf. "Really?" I said all too sweetly. "What a pity I survived then." Another pause. "No, actually it's a miracle. Urrihian venom is almost 100% fatal to humans." "But..." I started to interject but he kept talking. "The only other known survivors had immediate medical attention. And ended up with severe nerve and brain damage. You, however, appear to be in perfect health." "Oh," was my entirely unoriginal retort. I'm may be many things but slow on the uptake, I'm not. If I survived a venom that was almost always fatal the imperium would certainly want to know why. If only to be able to create an effective anti-venom. I was not however, particularly pleased to having had my status changed from scout to lab animal, no matter how valuble. But there was not, unfortunately, a damn thing I could do about it. ************************************************** Thanks to: quim2001, RDNA, Jim Burton, Wyrmmaster, Lourdes and Lalverson This is part of a joint story (The Exeter Mystery) being done by myself and Lalverson. Great dialogue! and the expressions are priceless. solid lighting. Mara looked miffed enough to slap that scowl off the wolf.
