Description
Last week, a dear friend passed away. He was an incredible painter, and his last series was of Pears... To Ric & his wonderful wife, this image is a but a token of the love you gave: May we all be as loving as you were...
I'm going to start commenting a few times a month---I'll begin this weekend. It'll be sporadic, but I think I'm ready to come back again, and believe me it'll be my pleasure. Thanks for your concern, favs & everything else you've given me these weeks: It's meant more to me than you know...

I'm so sorry to hear you have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a precious artist. This is such a unique artwork, the pear so delicate against the vivid splash of forest, creating a very interesting contrast, as if to show we are all vulnerable against the forces of nature. Glad you are feeling well enough to come back, and looking forward to your splendid art. CC

Oh... that is stunning. The pale yellow fruit jump out joyfully, out of the burgundy purple hues that seem to hang heavily like cloth. I hope all is well beyond what we read here. Welcome back.

I got so lost looking at this, trying to fathom the depth you achieved. After a while I thought, "gosh - it's like looking into a forest - it goes back forever!" Then I had to laugh, because I'd forgotten your title. :) This is a gorgeous image! I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I know grief creates depth, but right about now I bet you're feeling like you're plenty deep enough. Hang in, my friend, and only do what you can comfortably do.

What a stunning and compassionate tribute to your friend. This kind of loss is so hard, and it takes time and energy to heal, so, continue to conserve your strength and don't pressure yourself in any way. Of course it's great to see you back here and creating again. I always love reading your comments at all the galleries because you're so insightful and the more I see your presence out here, the more I realize how soulful you are. I also know that it takes a lot to be able to comment so well so regularly, so please take your time. Art is healing, isn't it? How optimistic this is. I see the pear, a symbol of your friend's art and therefore your friend as a kind of life force that feeds and inspires us. I see this coming from and returning to a brilliant forest of so many colors, and shades. There's so much depth here with veils of colors and lines and movement--like a walk in the woods that keeps going deeper the longer I look. I like how the texture reminds me of a painting. The colors, or strokes dripping like paint, or tears, or even rain would in turn purify the body, give life to the canvas, or nourish the forest and make everything grow again. I therefore imagine this to be a portrait of the life cycle and the creative energy in nature. I love art because it opens up our minds. We each find our own interpretation and the process of creation is often so liberating. It's a gorgeous work of art that I'm sure will be appreciated and remembered by your friend's family and friends for the rest of their lives. I wish you all peace.

This stopped me in my tracks, it's so lush and deep and full of life and color. It's a beautiful tribute to your friend, though nothing can fill the hole in your soul. Know you're loved here, Mark. Take VERY good care.
