Description
This is dedicated to the fairy queen GLORIATANTA http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?user_id=414483 Thanks for your friendship and the lovely use to which you put one of my pictures.
This shot is of the flame nebula (again). Taken during our nasty cold winter (which is in December here). A difficult image to take, even though I have posted an earlier attempt here as well. Problem is, it is right next to a VERY bright star (Alnitak - the left hand star in Orion's Belt).
Picture is 45 3 minute exposures handled in a highly non-conventional way.
I used my new H(alpha) filter to dim down the star and accentuate the redness of the nebula first. Then I took ordinary three color images. I separated the red, green and blue components and used the H(alpha) in place of the red component AND the luminance component. Then rebuilt the color image.
So instead of an LRBG picture it is a H(alpha)x2,GB picture.
OK so you didn't understand that. It's just a lot of nerd work. Takes a lot of time. I really SHOULD get out more and actually visit these nebula (..........oops, did I say that out loud?).

Well, I understand the time exposure part, and some of the other parts, not all. How you repositioned to keep centered, with earth rotation in that many exposures is beyond me. Anyway, great work. Very impressive.
