Description

Thought you might enjoy seeing my rock garden. When we moved to the mountains from California, I did everything wrong in my garden. Every tree, bush, and flower I planted got blown away, and what didn't was killed by the snow. And all my green plastic planters cracked. It was a basic disaster. I got very tired of replacing plants every spring, only to see them die in the winter. So a few weeks ago I decided to re-do everything, and use natural items from the land, like dead tree branches, gnarled trunks, pine and aspen logs, and semi-precious rocks that were on the property covered in dirt. The previous owners made jewelry and collected semi-precious rocks. The land is loaded with them, but most were covered. So we collected them and made them into gardens. We added a bird house theme. The big log planters in the front of the house have all kinds of bulbs and wildflowers that bloom spring and summer. In the side garden planter I planted poppies and wildflowers that are not yet blooming. But mostly it has gnarled wood, bird houses, and these really neat pine branches that are covered with masses of tiny pine cones. The squirrels and chipmunks love running all over the logs and are really fun to watch. My mountain landscaping was a lot of work, but it now shows off the rocks that sparkle in the sun and are all kinds of wonderful colors and textures. And the best part is - I finally have a garden for all seasons. Hope you enjoy.:o) CC ZOOM for details

How lovely and natural your garden looks and it has lots of colour too. The rocks look to be lovely colours and you have used them beautifully. I reckon you can be very proud of this garden and like your paintings it is so beautiful.

Its nice to be able to creat a bit of something special an a place that was formrly inhospitable, your efforts seem that much more rewarding, you've managed to really stamp your own mark in the area blending with your surroundings a real familiar place to call home!! you have done beautifully carol!!!

Carol, your hand in this is as one already pointed out-Brilliant Artwork. Sneak out late at night when the moon is full and snap some images of the work. The beauty of the rocks and birdhouses close up will please you as well. Wonderful; thank you for showing us a little piece of your heaven.

Fantastic landscaping job Carol, I know how hard it is, just to look after and maintain, as I live on 3 acres. Good to see you working with the natural vegetation and all the great bird houses, although the there might be a fight for them, by the Fairies and squirrels ! Yep, I think you nailed it ! Thanx for the share. ~Cheers~
