Description

...and I'm still working on my crazy costume project. Some time ago I'd thought "gee wouldn't it be a cooler waste of my time if I designed totally new dragon scales so that the costume will take even longer to make?" Or something like that. Anyway, I sculpted this and a couple of alternate ideas, and the more I looked at them the more I wanted to make this one. So, I made a one-piece silicone-rubber mold and cast around 50 of these scales to use as the wrist and forearm guards. Each arm has 24 of these scales. Isn't it amazing the amount of energy I put into something that I'll probably only wear 6 or 7 times?

Very nicely done. But don't they poke at your arms if you try to bend them?

If it is make you happy creating it and wear it, then worth a lot. Unusual or any hobby better then no hobby at all, and you do a good job, realy looks good.

We all need a focus point. Yours is in creation of something you cannot acquire elsewhere. Excellent work and photo.

This is amazing! If Nemaea ever finds itself on the big screen, I'm gonna make sure that you design the costumes. Your attention to authentic detail is amazing, and in looking at the progression of this, I'm struck by all sorts of tidbits of ethnographic significance. That's what really amazes me about your costuming, there is an innate awareness of form and function, but also of a particular cultural cosmology. It reveals itself in dragon scales, wild feathered headdresses; your stuff inspires my own writing. Great stuff!

what is the most amazing is the result of your work and inspiration: they look like reptile leafs , I actually first thought they were really made of leafs actually :)

Whether you use them only 6 or 7 times makes no difference . The skills you add to your work is the same skills we artists put in our designs . It is a work of art ! You could even dress up a manikin in this outfit after you've worn it as many times as you like and put it on display in an art show . Custom crafts are one of a kind and your work is superb !!~BRAVO~!!

Excellent! To make something that you enjoy making is never a waste of time.. I made robot costumes out of old electronic garbage, leather and metal, back in the nineties, only wore them once or twice...but the fun!!
