Description

Rhododendron from Trent's yard. I loved the drama of the colors, and the extravagance of rhododendron blossoms always pleases me. The rhododendron is the official flower of the State of Washington, and believe me ... we have a bunch of 'em here! I keep thinking one day I'll post a guide showing how to tell the difference between a rhody and an azalea. Maybe one day I'll actually put one together! In the meantime ... this is absolutely a rhody. Enjoy the drama!

A veritable blast of color. I see you thought you'd better add to the 400 plus flower shots you took several days ago. Well good. There's never enough! I've got the same problem with all those metal things with wings. LOL.

I for one would benefit greatly from your lesson on how to tell the difference! This is just so lovely; I am always drawn to that dark pattern on the petals, reminds me of exotic cats. Great work!

oh, another beautiful flower shot Tara. It's always nice to see the 'sides' you have; it's like you have a 'flower' side, because you have a way with flowers. Did you know that 'rhododendron' means "rose tree" in Greek? (I know, "boooooorrrring!") Well just to say it was named after its rose-like flowers. The flower looking at us is so nicely caught, all open & it stamens & markings right out there; and the surrounding flowers have a kind of symmetry to them.. But you also caught the flowers behind: I think that's lovely, they make fine counterpoint not only in their shape but in their darker hue. (Maybe because of shade, I don't know...) Another fine flower shot, cropped in your usual fine fashion. And btw, isn't a rhody a person who follows the Grateful Dead? (Roadie??? MAN are you slow! Ya gotta keep up here, I'm layin' out gems here!) Ok, enough henny youngman...Lovely shot.
