Description

A bold adventurer and explorer, Avan Astran is the lest Vilmirian of the Dukes of Vilmir. The hereditary lord of Hrolmar, he chaffs under the rule of Law and pushes its edicts to the breaking point to raise his people from the oppression and dull drum that infect the rest of the land. Having travel widely in his youth, he instilled a renaissance in Old Hrolmar that transformed the city into a vibrant, spirited place of promise and opportunity with in the first years of his reign, but earned that scorn of many in the process. Sent by his father, Duke Culvan, to study in Cadsandria in his youth, Avan fell in with a circus troupe and gang of thieves, returning five years later with the mysterious, mabden warrioress Nadjana in tow, who has swore to protect him with her life. Traveling much of the Young Kingdoms and beyond; he has seen the Unknown East, the mountains of Myrrhyn, the Dreaming City of Imrryr on Melnibone and even the World’s Edge far south of Lormyr. When the Knight of the Cleansing Flame, also known as the Inquisition, seized Nadjana, right off the streets of Old Hrolmar, Avan turned to the renegade Dragon Lord Daeron Syn, whose companion Nykira Ardonni was also taken, to rescue her; bringing about the near total destruction of both their order and their Abbey in the western Iron Hills. But, to his regret, the Inquisition rose from its own ashes, and continued to plague all of Vilmir, including Hrolmar, despite his proclamation banning them for his lands on pain of death. Note: Duke Avan Astran appears in Michael Moorcock’s Sailor on the Sea of Fate, which is set several years in the future of this story, as well as the adventure scenario Stolen Moments from Chaosium’s Perils of the Young Kingdom by Fred Behrendt, Geoff Gillan, Nick Hagger, Mark Morrison, Mike Syzmanski & Richard Watts, and the ELRIC! Supplement Atlas of the Young Kingdoms – Volume 1: the Northern Continent by Richard Watts, Mark Morrison, Lawrence Whitaker & Lynn Willis. Thanks for looking... Hope you enjoy!
