UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh, yeah, brings back childhood memories. When I was there, she was not under roof. I got to enter thru the conning tower, and go from stern to stem. And back again.

Fantastic story. The submarine and it's setting certainly call to mind the scenesof the first "Indiana Jones" movie. Thanks Bill.

Dude! Way cool looking collage! Of course, brilliantly impressive thing to actually be around. The size is much bigger than you realise! Marvelous. Well done Bill. Rob.

wow bill, an amazing capture; I always zoom, but this one blooms wonderfully when zoomed. You caught the sweep of the sub & its torpedo, as well as the looming space it's in (and that insulated museum lighting that makes it seem so intense). And your other shots are marvelous too; both for the historical detail as well as (again) the actual space & museum ambience, etc. I read a lot about U boats years back and they were very intensive chambers; and I know it was a big deal when the Allies captured these. An amazing montage, and your angles & light are quite fine. More fine museum work from you...

Ach du leiber, Augustine, eine schöne Spitze der Fotographie in dieser, Bill! Love the light/shadow effects in this collage. Terrific POV of the sleek slim-jim torpedo, seemingly on its deadly way to sink another merchant ship in the North Atlantic.

Great work. A fascinating story. Adm Daniel Gallery wrote several books on submarine warfare, by the way.

Great captures and another amazing story. It has been been very well set up in the museum.

Yup. I remember when it was outside. I was stationed in Glakes in 1974. I took a tour inside and again in the mid eighties. I believe he was chewed out for keeping the sub afloat because if spies found out it was intact the codes would have been changed and the Enigma would be useless. Dan Gallery also authored several humorous naval themed books. The Kriegsmarine machines used 4 rotors

Great pictures!!! I visited a U-boot at the German Navy Museum in Kiel (Germany)many years ago. The U-boot was outdoors and it was possible to enter inside. It was a really impressive experience. It was so small inside and they told us that it was "empty" (no supplies all around)! Terrific! Claustrophobic!

Do I need to tell you I like the bottom right-hand image best? Wow ... that's totally cool lighting. It certainly gives the sense of being under water! Excellent image.
