Description

I gave my sister this orchid just after Christmas, 2007. Every time I go see her, there it sits in her kitchen window, blooming its crazy head off. She just laughs. I've named it Rasputin, after the mad monk who wouldn't die. Not that this orchid should die---I just want one that blooms at least half as long!!!

So she's the orchid whisperer? I've never had one of these. What a beauty!

an amazing shot Marilyn. Another one of those shots where you turn the world upside down, by capturing the bloom moving straight down, and leaving all that space above it. It's a real twist on the 'bouquet' concept; it's wonderful. Also the hues are fine too...you picked the right angle, because the wall color makes fine music with the flower. it's powerful stuff. (You know, some would say that even if 'your' orchids don't last as long, the fact that an orchid you gave as a gift lasts that long says something about what you 'impart' to it. Just a little mythic dimension I thought you might like!)

LOL! It's certainly lasted a long time! I don't have much luck with these, but she seems to have an orchid-friendly thumb! It's quite beautiful.

Rasputin the Orchid! I love it! Luckily this beauty isn't likely to suffer the same fate as that particular...well...almost inhuman monk! Great colors and wonderful detail. I love the warmth of this image!
