Description

Durleybeachbum posted beautiful purplish columbine. I have never seen any others but these. These grow as a weed up here, but they are a beautiful weed. The humming birds love them. I told her I would post them for her. I took these a few weeks ago at the Paine Art Center. I hope you like them. Thank you for the all the comments on my previous posts, I love and cherish all the comments you leave. To Mrs. Lubner I hope you feel better soon. Get lots of rest. Friends always, Cheri

Stellar lighting effects to emphasize the wonderful clarity and textures in this magnificent composition of the Columbine, the name of which always reminds me of the terrible tragedy that occurred a decade ago in the Colorado high school of the same name.

Excellent close up detail and vibrant colors! A weed is just an unwanted plant and is never unwanted in my opinion.

Gorgeous! I remember seeing this color in Minnesota, but I've only seen blue or white here in Washington.

I agree that these should not be considered weeds, perhaps it's because they are sooo common around these parts, that most people rip them out, and plant less common things. We had several of these at my old house, and the hummingbirds seemed to be drawn to them like magnets. My ex thought the humming birds were large bumble bees and wanted me to get rid of the plants. I used to tap the dried up blossoms into my hands and spread the tiny black seeds all over the yard. I've noticed when I pick my daughter up from there, that there is an abundance of columbine, growing everywhere there now. Great shot sweetie, but i think I like the variety Durleybeachbum posted better, I'm sure the humming birds here wouldn't mind either.

Thankyou so much for this, Cheri! Familiarity breeds contempt! How marvellous to have hummingbirds, and why would anyone want to deprive bumbles of food, how odd! I wish I had 'weeds' like this, I have to say.

Prayers and well wishes for Mrs. Lubner! One man's weed is another's treasure... Man loves to label things and put them in neat little packages! I would bet this "weed" was around before there was a word for it! I'll take beauty whereever I can find it and try and accept it for being what it is... Lovely colors,a vibrant and helpful life form, clearly captured and composed nicely!!!! Outstanding work!!!!

These are so nice and fuzzy, kinda like hippie plants or something! Great light, and I have to say that I really like the light here! It brings out the texture and the color, which is always a good thing. The yellows are nicely golden, and all in all, this image rocks.
